Breakthrough in chemical cleaning research
Nowadays it has become a need to produce and manufacture more and more advanced cleaning products to maintain
and keep surfaces, ar eas and places free from bacteria and contamination. Bacteria
invisible to the eye can be the cause of very serious illnesses and damage your health seriously.
Public places such as libraries, restaurants, schools or nightclubs need very good cleaning on a daily basis, as
they are always full of people and it is a need to remove potential viruses and bacteria that can pose as a risk to
your health.
One of the most annoying things to clean for people that work in this industry is to remove chewing gum from surfaces, or even worse, to remove it from a
carpet. Although there are some commercial cleaning products to tackle this problem, it is something that no
one likes doing, as the final result may not be as satisfactory as desired.
In order to avoid this problem, there are many schools that ban chewing gum or bubble gum in their
buildings. Sometimes students just drop it on the floor without thinking about the amount of work they are
putting on the cleaners' shoulders when they do it. Other public places such as libraries take this measure as
well.
Engineering teams have had a breakthrough on the anti-microbial research.
They have come up with the creation of anti-microbial coatings for surfaces in order to avoid microorganisms
sticking and contaminating your hands, your food or other things.
Another group of scientists led by a very successful woman called Virginia Davis majored on the subject of
chemical engineering facilitating this kind of research in the cleaning industry. This team used lysozyme solutions
where they mixed them thoroughly to come up with their specific coatings. According to them, this substance is
found on human tears and egg whites and happens to be very effective for coat cleaning. Lysozyme is also used for
the elaboration of other types of commercial products such as Biotine mouthwash. The scientists however admitted
that the product was not very much effective in preventing infections and required something else to be added to it
to make it more powerful for cleaning purposes.
The chemical cleaning researches take new steps day by day. The days in which the only substance known
to kill bacteria and disinfect surfaces was bleach are gone. With new technologies and methods as well
as new substances used in the chemical industry for the production of cleaning products we are able to find
more innovative and more powerful liquids, soaps and gels to get rid of bacteria and microorganisms that can
harm you and put at risk your health.
